How to Install Car Rearview Mirror Lenses

Press the lens down to the limit in the driver's seat (some models require inward pressure), exposing the engagement point between the lens and the driver (semi-circular platform).

How to Install Car Rearview Mirror Lenses

1. Dismantling Old Lenses (Pre-Step)

- **Adjust the Position of the Lens**: Press the lens down to the limit in the driver's seat (some models require inward pressure), exposing the engagement point between the lens and the driver (semi-circular platform).

- **Separate Lenses**: Insert a plastic pry bar or a Phillips screwdriver into the slot and gently pry the rear buckle (to avoid causing the lens to shatter). If the lens has electric heating, first remove the heating wire harness (no need to distinguish between positive and negative poles, just remove it directly).

2. Core Steps for Installing New Lenses

- **Confirmation of Lens Direction**: Check the card holder markings on the back of the new lens: marked with "L" on the left and "R" on the right (reverse installation can cause distortion of the field of view).
- **Heating Wire Connection (if any)**: Insert the heating wire plug vertically into the lens card holder interface (a "click" sound indicates it is clamped).
- **Align and Fix the Buckle**: Align the new lens card holder parallel to the driver card slot, press it into the top of the lens first, and then press the bottom towards the base direction. Hearing two consecutive "clicks" indicates that all buckles are locked (failure to tighten may cause detachment during driving).

3. Key Precautions

- **Tool Selection**: Prioritize the use of plastic pry bars (metal tools are prone to scratching mirrors or drivers).
- **Anti-Damage Operation**: Place a soft cloth under the lens during disassembly to prevent it from falling and shattering.
- **Warm Up the Car**: Before winter operation, warm up the car for 10 minutes to avoid plastic buckles becoming brittle at low temperatures.
- **Functional Testing**: Immediately test after reassembly: whether the electric adjustment is smooth and whether the heating function is effective (to avoid secondary disassembly).

4. Quick Check Table for Installation Differences of Different Vehicle Models
- **Basic Manual Rearview Mirror**: Can be installed by pressing the buckle directly (no need to power off).
- **Electric Heating Lens Harness Interface**: Needs to be sealed and waterproof (wrap the terminals with insulating tape).
- **Blind Spot Monitoring Lenses**: Avoid pulling the sensor circuit (it is recommended to cooperate with two people).
- **Luxury Car Models**: The lens part may require special tools to unlock the driver (e.g., BMW's rotating buckle).

**Tip**: If the lens buckle breaks (common in old cars), AB glue can be used to reinforce the connection between the card holder and the driver (wait for 24 hours to cure before use). Rear-mounted large field lenses need to be recalibrated to avoid distortion.
