Jannik Sinner claimed a straight-sets victory over Novak Djokovic to reach his first French Open final. The world No. 1 will now face Carlos Alcaraz in a much-anticipated championship clash at Roland Garros.
Jannik Sinner Defeats Djokovic to Reach First French Open Final
World No. 1 Jannik Sinner booked his place in the 2025 French Open final with a composed and confident performance, beating Novak Djokovic 6-4, 7-5, 7-6(3) in a high-stakes semi-final on Court Philippe Chatrier.
Sinner, a three-time major winner, is playing just his second tournament since serving a three-month suspension for failing two doping tests. The 23-year-old Italian showed no signs of rust, holding his nerve in key moments to extend his winning streak over Djokovic to four matches.
Djokovic, 38, was aiming to become the oldest Grand Slam men’s singles champion and win a record-breaking 25th major title. Despite showing trademark grit and tactical versatility, the Serbian star was unable to overcome Sinner’s relentless pressure and sharp execution.
Sinner broke early in the first set and stayed solid from the baseline throughout, frustrating Djokovic into unforced errors and mistimed drop-shots. After a tense second set saw both players trade breaks, the Italian surged ahead again to seal the two-set lead.
A minor injury required Djokovic to seek treatment for his left leg before the third set, but Sinner kept his composure under pressure. He saved three set points in a dramatic 5-4 game before dominating the tie-break to close out the win.
Sinner now advances to his first Roland Garros final, where he will face second seed Carlos Alcaraz in what promises to be a thrilling clash between two of the brightest stars in men’s tennis.
